2023 Update

Its been almost a year since I posted here. We’ve had some tough times lately and have been busy raising puppies. Brynn and Bandai are over a year old now and have been to a couple shows. I have holtered them both a couple times and they have had pretty normal results. Eastleigh had a litter of 9 puppies on New Years Eve. Raising 9 puppies was exhausting and a lot of work, but all of them stayed in the Twin Cities area so it is nice to be able to see them often. We also decided to keep a girl and call her “Johnnie”.

We lost Evija to sudden death at the end of the year and that was hard to recover from. Later in March, Raven was diagnosed within parameters of DCM at his last echo. This puts a stop to all breeding plans involving Raven for the time being. I have switched him back to Purina foods and put him on supplements hoping that it is just diet related and can be reversed. He has a recheck at the end of August. A bit of good news though is that Kitty also got an echo and was cleared.

With the economy the way it is now we have not been pushing too hard to try to get to shows and races. We have been to a couple this year but with raising puppies and dealing with the health related issues in the dogs I have been weary to spend too much money. We are focusing on keeping our dogs healthy and happy for now. That being said- we are at a place where we need to evaluate our breeding stock and decide where to go from here with our program. We do not have plans to breed again for at least two years, possibly longer.
